TRACKNAVCHALLENGE

HOW TRACKNAVCHALLENGE WORKS

TrackNAVCHALLENGE is a challenge for young people aged 14 to 18  to design and build a radio-controlled model 4x4 vehicle that can cope with a test track just as demanding as the Land Rover test tracks at Gaydon and Solihull. The vehicle built and developed during TrackNAVCHALLENGE must meet the specifications set out by Land Rover designers and engineers in partnership with educational specialists. It will be tested on its ability to successfully navigate a specially designed model off-road track in an indoor location.

TrackNAVCHALLENGE can be undertaken by groups of 4–6 students in lessons such as GCSE Engineering, Manufacturing and Design, and Technology in England, Wales and Northern Ireland or the National Qualification subjects of Product Design or Technological Studies in Scotland. Equally, it can be pursued as an extra-curricular activity, or undertaken by groups of scouts, guides, youth club members etc.

In addition, teams enter a national competition where they submit a portfolio detailing the experience, design and decision-making process along with financial records. The competition also includes a presentation to a panel of judges who will ask the team questions on their submission. TrackNAVCHALLENGE meets academic and industry standard benchmarks whilst being hugely enjoyable and rewarding to participants.
